Victorian Greeting Cards: Thanksgiving Turkey Ride

So... eating one isn't all you can do with a Turkey!

What clever people the Victorians were. Always up for new and unusual things, Victorians were certainly inventive.

Back in the day, there was little else to do but place a child atop a turkey and go for a ride.

This reproduction of an antique Thanksgiving card shows a little boy riding his Thanksgiving turkey.

The boy is wearing a sailor costume, which must have been appropriate for a turkey ride?

The turkey doesn't look concerned that a large boy is sitting on his back, riding crop in hand.
